Linden news - Samuel Johnson passed away at his home here Thursday afternoon, after a short illness with uremic poison. The deceased was the son of Andrew and Matilda Johnson and was the fifth child of a family of 11 children. He was born Nov 5, 1844 in Montgomery County near Crawfordsville, and with the exception of a few months his entire life was spent in this county. He was an old soldier, having belonged to the 35th Indiana regiment. He was married to Miss Mina Williamson, Sept 20, 1877. To this union two sons were born: Frank W, who died in infancy and Walter J. Mrs. Johnson died Jan 8, 1889 and on October 1, 1899 he was married to Mrs. Ruth E. Jackson. In his early boyhood he united with Christian Church and continued a faithful member up to the time of his death. Besides his wife and son, he leaves two brothers, Laben of New Market and Alexander of Crawfordsville and four sisters: Mrs. Jane Sims of New Market; Mrs. Emma Huss; Mrs. Matilda Hazell and Mrs. Elizabeth Mahan of Crawfordsville. Funeral services were held at the Christian Church at 1 o'clock Saturday afternoon, conducted by Rev. FG Howard. Interment in the Linden cemetery.
